Customers of the Spaix pump selection software have something to look forward to: the latest version will be launched at the end of October. In addition to many new functions, the program’s performance has been further improved. Moreover, the manufacturer VSX – VOGEL SOFTWARE has paid special attention to the topic of sustainability in Spaix 6.

Spaix 6 offers the familiar, reliable functionality of previous versions and remains an indispensable tool for centrifugal pump manufacturers and users looking to optimize their sales work and increase its efficiency. Furthermore, it incorporates a variety of innovations that enable users to respond even better to changing market conditions.

“The extensive functionality, which can be used to display almost any design or construction variant, reflects our 30 years of experience in the implementation of such programs,” explains Jens-Uwe Vogel, Managing Director of VSX – VOGEL SOFTWARE GmbH. “With its integrated price calculation, quoting and project functions, the software is designed to be a central element of the entire sales process. In the latest version, special attention was paid to the topic of sustainability. Users are given the opportunity to evaluate and compare pumps also in terms of their energy balance thanks to the transparent display of key facts. But also with regard to pump selection and configuration, we have again implemented attractive and efficient innovations.”

Search by application
The new search by application addresses the needs of pump users and processors who want to select directly with their application-specific parameters. This means that users can start the pump selection via user-specific data, even if the duty point is not yet known. The values required to find a suitable pump are determined from the application data known to the user.

Established search options such as hydraulic selection by duty point, product selection browser via series description, search by the product name or item number, and pump exchange to replace an existing pump are of course available to the user in the familiar scope.

Sustainability – Transparent display of energy requirements per pump
Sustainability has become a key issue at a time when climate change is omnipresent. And this importance was also taken into account in the development of Spaix 6. For example, the energy requirements and CO2 emissions per year are now displayed for each pump model. When searching by application, a new visualization has been integrated that shows the compensation of CO2 emissions by the number of trees required, depending on the pump used and the energy source.

Of particular interest is the fact that Spaix considers the pump system as a whole, including all components. Thus, energy consumption, the CO2 balance as well as the operating and life cycle costs can be simulated when using a frequency converter, taking into account the efficiency of the converter itself. This gives the user of the software a powerful tool for selecting and configuring the best pump system from an economic and environmental point of view.

More individual work with the pump performance curves
Unique to Spaix is the combined PumpSelector and PumpConfigurator. This means that users always have a complete overview of the various options of all pumps matching the operating data and reach their goal faster with fewer steps. The influence of the selected components on the pump performance curves is visualized immediately, without having to switch between different pages.

As before, the program provides extensive calculation routines for working with performance curves. New is the optional restriction of the selection to a preferred operating range (POR), which allows the user to obtain even more specific results. In addition, the preferred (POR) and allowable (AOR) application range can be displayed as a duty chart area. Especially for pumps in process technology or for applications where selection according to API or Hydraulic Institute is required, this further development simplifies pump selection.

Another new feature is the display of the results list with thumbnail previews of pump curves and application areas, which makes the overall work with the program faster and thus more efficient.

Spaix 6 still offers extensive possibilities for modifying pump performance curves. Especially noteworthy is the curve correction function with rotation option, which is newly available in the program.

A wide range of add-on modules complements the basic functionality
The basic functionality of the software can be extended by a wide range of additional modules to enable qualified selection and configuration of special pump designs, such as magnetic drive pumps, turbine pumps or side channel pumps. In addition, there are powerful modules for spare parts selection and pump exchange.

Pipe calculation with new features
The very popular add-on module Spaix PipeCalc has been completely revised and extended. The newly structured user interface supports the user even better in entering their installation data. With the quick search in the pipe element database as well as the possibility to create custom pipe elements, the system is the perfect tool for friction loss calculation of the pump.

To better guide the user, data creators now have the option to limit the installation diagrams in Spaix PipeCalc by pump application area.

One database for all applications
Spaix 6 also uses a multi-platform design, an overall concept that remains unique in the market. The web-based version for Internet and Intranet and the desktop-based version for Windows operating systems are complemented by a version optimized for mobile devices. The application uses the same database on all available platforms. Thanks to the intelligent database system, all product-specific data can be displayed and used for the sales process. Spaix can also be integrated into external webshops or configuration programs via corresponding interfaces without a personalized user interface.

Complete service from a single source
Spaix 6 Web is offered as a service-based subscription model (Spaix as a Service, in short: SaaS), which also allows the use for a specified period of time. The customer receives a complete package of software and service, including all licenses, software maintenance and support as well as the hosting of the software solution. The advantages for the customer are, on the one hand, that the investment costs for the acquisition of the licenses are eliminated and, on the other hand, that a flexible and scalable solution is offered. Provision in the cloud relieves the burden on the customer’s own IT department, increases security and availability, and significantly improves efficiency for maintenance and updates.

The perfect tool for a wide range of applications
Due to the extensive functionality of Spaix 6, the program is suitable for a wide range of applications. Whether pump manufacturers or operators, the software provides both target groups with a highly efficient tool for mastering all sizing and sales tasks.

With the help of special interfaces, the software solution can be easily integrated into an existing IT environment. This means that the application can be embedded in an existing environment to link information from Spaix with customer and sales-specific data.

Spaix 6 will be launched on October 23, 2023 and will then be available to Spaix customers as an upgrade. Both customers and interested parties can already pre-register for a product presentation.

VSX – VOGEL SOFTWARE, a leading provider of software and Internet solutions for sales support in the pump industry, has joined the “Everfield” European software group. Apart from the development of new markets, the founders of VSX are thus taking the first step towards a long-term succession plan. For VSX customers, this primarily means lasting stability and security for the investments made.

“With VSX, we have been able to attract another highly specialized software company to the Everfield Software group,” said Henning Schreiber, Everfield Germany´s Managing Director and Head of European Acquisitions. “With its highly specialized solution for sales and quotation costing, VSX is a leading software provider in the pump industry.” VSX’s “Spaix” software is a so-called CPQ (“Configure Price Quote”) solution. This software supports customers in selecting, configuring and quoting centrifugal pumps and is used by leading European and international pump manufacturers. Centrifugal pumps have a wide range of use from water and wastewater to a variety of industrial applications.

“As a family-run company, VSX is shaped by values such as openness, reliability and fairness,” emphasized Hanns-Henrik Vogel. “We have built this company over the last 30 years. It was clear to us that we could only hand VSX over to a partner who fits us and who brings the right concept. Everfield was exactly the right choice for that.”

“We have built a profitable and healthy company and are convinced that Everfield, with its expertise in the B2B software business, will continue on this course,” adds Jens-Uwe Vogel. “It was already apparent in the early discussions that we share our conviction when it comes to market and product strategy. Customer benefit is at the heart of our products and services. It is thus logical to further develop the company on a broader financial and personnel basis in order to be a reliable partner for our customers in the long term. In addition, it gives me a good feeling to know that Everfield wants to build on the existing team and add more employees.”

“As Everfield, we are always on the lookout for established industry solutions like VSX’s software,” adds Henning Schreiber. “By acquiring VSX, we have been able to gain a company with plenty of know-how and highly specialized and experienced employees. In return, we will support VSX in embarking on a sustainable growth course.” The two founders and managing directors of VSX, Hanns-Henrik Vogel and Jens-Uwe Vogel will remain on board as managing directors after the acquisition. Schreiber continues: “We attach great importance to the expertise of the founders, so that together we can successfully grow the company in the long term.”

The VSX solution, “Spaix”, is designed as a central element for the entire sales process due to its integrated functions for pump selection and configuration, price calculation and quote generation. VSX also operates the information and consulting portal, “impeller.net”. Apart from editorial content and industry news, the portal offers a database to assist users in selecting the right centrifugal pump for their project.

Everfield is establishing a pan-Eurpean group of B2B software companies. Acquisition candidates are suppliers of proprietary software solutions with a turnover of between 1 and 8 million euros. As part of a “buy-and-grow” strategy, Everfield aims to fully acquire the company’s shares. Everfield is not looking for short-term success through quick reselling, but relies on long-term cooperation. Henning Schreiber: “We come to stay.” Companies are expected to retain their autonomy to a large extent, but can rely on support from Everfield’s teams. In particular, founders and owners who care about the future of their company can be sure that they are putting their entrepreneurial legacy in good hands.

VSX – VOGEL SOFTWARE has expanded its support with an online offering that provides customers with detailed information on functionality and data maintenance for Spaix software solutions.

For some time now, the company has been providing a range of video tutorials explaining the use of the Spaix software solution for pump sales. Here the focus is on the application of pump selection, configuration and quote generation of the CPQ software. The new offer is now aimed at data administrators of the pump manufacturer.

The just introduced information portal contains a lot of documentation on specific functions and subject areas, as well as a selection of video tutorials for data creation. “On the one hand, we see in our support team that certain features require explanation, and on the other hand, we see from our customers’ applications that the potential of Spaix is not always fully exploited. This is where we want to give our customers targeted additional support with our new offer.” says Managing Director, Jens-Uwe Vogel, describing the company’s motivation.

The information is accessible via the company’s website in the Customer Center section. Customers have the option to register in order to gain access to the portal. After successful approval, users have the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the Spaix database program by watching video tutorials or downloading help files and manuals. In addition, they can find comprehensive product documentation as well as brochures and factsheets on various Spaix modules.

If a new update of a Spaix version is available, the so-called changelogs appear in the support area. These contain information about corrections, extensions and customizations of the respective Spaix updates.

The content of the Customer Center is continuously updated and expanded.
